FAQ's
Q: Are the paints safe?
A: The paints are all specifically formulated for use on the skin and the ingredients are compliant with European Union and USA safety regulations.
Q: Do they come off easily?
A: Yes all the paints can be easily washed off with a little soap or baby shampoo and warm water.
Baby/make-up wipes are NOT a recommended form of removal.

Some paints with a stronger pigment may leave a slight temporary stain after the first wash but this is completely harmless and soon disappears. Blues and greens are normally the worst!  An effective way of removal is to lather some baby wash, mild soap or baby shampoo on the skin, leave it for a short while and then rinse off.  With the paints being water-activated, this breaks them down for easier removal. More stubborn stains can be usually removed effectively with oil based products if the washing has not worked.  Glitter tattoos can, with care, last up to 7 days.  They will begin to wear off anyway but if you want to remove them more quickly the best way is to massage an oily product into them for a few minutes.  This will break down the glue.  They can then be gently washed off or gently picked at with a fingernail.  DO NOT attempt to scrub them off.

Q: Is it the same sponge for all the kids?
A: No, I use clean sponge(s) for each child.

Q: Are you doing anything extra because of Covid?

A: Yes, since the pandemic hygiene has improved in the industry and there will be extra cleaning of brushes using soap.  All surfaces will be wiped down regularly with isopropyl alcohol.   I will also be sanitizing my hands.
Q: I am worried about a reaction
A: The paints are intended for painting on the skin and it is extremely rare for someone to have a reaction to professional face paints.  However, as with all things 'cosmetic',  a reaction can occur - this will normally manifest within a minute or two of application.  I cannot be held responsible for any reaction and if you are in doubt a patch test is advisable at least 20 minutes prior to the face paint.  Using the correct removal process and taking the paints off after a few hours will also minimise the potential for (even rarer) post-application reactions.
Q: Is your glitter like the stuff I can buy at the craft shop?
A: No! The glitter that I use is cosmetic grade and is safe for use on the face and near eyes unlike craft glitter which can be made of metallic particles and can scratch skin or eyes.  Caution should be used with 'chunky' festival glitter and this is not recommended on younger children as they may rub it towards their eyes.
Q: Is there anyone you won't paint?
A: I will not paint anyone with (but not limited to) Covid-19 /cold / flu symptoms, cold sores, conjunctivitis, rash, head lice, open wound, or other contagious skin or eye conditions.  Abusive people will not be painted.
I will also only paint someone that is old enough to want to be painted and understands what is happening.  Note that the industry guidance is that children should be 3+ years to ensure their skin is 'ready' for face paint.  I am not insured to paint under 3's. Please ensure that your child is presented with as clean a face as possible!
Please do not ask me to paint babies or sleeping or frightened children!  Face painting should be a fun and pleasant experience for both the child and the painter.
Q: Can you paint anywhere?
A: If you want me for your outdoor event then I will require cover/shade.  I am happy to share gazebos with other people as my set up takes up only half of a standard 3m gazebo.  If you are having a disco (especially in the winter months) I do require enough light to see what I am doing so please bear this in mind if the DJ is planning on turning lights off etc for his/her light show.  If your party is at home I would prefer that I am in an area where there is no smoking (if indoors).
Q: The last person we booked let us down
A: There are some painters out there who do not realise that to be successful in this profession you must dedicate your time, money and your integrity to face painting.  It is not just a case of turning up and 'doing a bit of painting'.  I pride myself in my reliability and will not let any client down unless I have suffered some physical disablement!  In the unlikely event that I was unable to make a booking I would do my utmost to find a replacement for you.  The cheapest is not always the best!
As a professional painter I am fully insured for your peace of mind.
